The excitement surrounding the young songstress propelled her onto the festival circuit and she appeared at renowned summer festivals such as Way out West, Wilderness, and Green Man Festival. Her next single, " Running with the Wolves", was released in April 2015 and received attention from national BBC stations Radio 1, Radio 2, and 6Music. The song was also received positively by various online music blogs and national press such as NME. "Runaway" achieved success in the UK on streaming service Spotify, reaching one million streams after just six weeks. Her first single signed to her labels Glassnote Records and Decca Records, " Under Stars", was released in November 2014, and " Runaway" followed in February 2015. Besides classical music, she has mentioned she was influenced by artists like Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, Enya, as well as The Chemical Brothers and melodic metal.Ĭareer 2012-2016: First years and All My Demons Greeting Me as a Friend Īurora's first song " Puppet" was released in December 2012, followed by her second, " Awakening" in May 2013. Songs such as " Running with the Wolves", " I Went Too Far" and " Runaway" were written in this early stage of her life, with "Runaway" being written when she was 11. Her first original composition was titled " I Had a Dream", which referred to how hard the world can be. There was something special about being able to play just by yourself – something about the emotion in it made me want to continue playing." She began creating melodies at the age of six, and, at age nine, when she had a better handle of the English language, she began writing songs. I started to make melodies that I recognized. "I really love classic music, and when I found this piano in the attic, I just started pressing the keys and trying to figure out my favorite classical songs. In Bergen, we love burgers, pizza and sushi. I also love Nygårdsgaten and its independent shops such as Twisted, which sells beautiful, unusual clothing. It’s really small with paintings of elephants on the walls and outside seating. My favourite café is Elefanten (Engen 12). I love the docks area, with the colourful fishing boats, and the area around Skostredet, which is pedestrianised, with lots of vintage boutiques and cool cafes. It’s small, so you can explore it all in one day. It is a cold city but there’s always lots going on, so it’s always bubbling. If I’m performing and there’s one fan from Bergen, they’ll be screaming, “Bergen, we love you!” If you’re from Bergen, and you meet someone from Bergen anywhere in the world, it’s like you’re already friends. A lot of my songs are inspired by the people who live in Bergen.
